Our Story
The story of Radiant Minded begins in 2012 in Orange, a small town just outside of Newark, NJ. In less than 10 years, Orange High School, a Title 1 school with 100% enrollment of students from underserved communities, went from having no AP Calculus program to one where dozens of students were taking—and passing—the exam every year. After years of steady improvement in participation and performance, 100% of the students received a 4 or 5, with 80% receiving a perfect 5, far outperforming nearly all schools, regardless of socioeconomic status. What these Radiant Minded students showed is that, given the opportunity, success is universal.
It is against this backdrop that Radiant Minded came to be, with the aim of expanding the number of students and classrooms where genuine mathematical achievement--regardless of circumstance--is found.

Hooman has taught since 2012, when he started at Orange High School, just outside of Newark, New Jersey. In his 10+ years in the classroom, he found that destructive socio-economic forces can be overcome and that success can be found in any classroom.
Hooman has experience working in a variety of settings and populations. In addition to his work at Orange High School, a public Title 1 school serving students of underserved backgrounds, he also has years of experience teaching at the University level, where he was awarded NJIT's adjunct instructor of the year; in a private all-girls school, where he has virtually taught AP Calculus BC; with middle school students as part of the BEAM Academy for underserved students with a passion for math; with the National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI), as an AP Calculus Coach for both students and teachers; and with College Board, as an AP Daily instructor (AP Calculus BC, units 7 and 8) and as an AP Reader for both AP Calculus AB and BC.
